![]() I remained faithful to Mac IE5 over the years, following it across OSes from Mac OS 9 to Mac OS X. While Netscape languished, Mac IE5 just got better and better. I was a web standards snob in the '90s (okay, I still am), so I welcomed Internet Explorer 5 for the Mac, one of the first browsers to have extensive CSS1 support, with open arms. In less than a year, Apple has created what is arguably the best all-around web browser on any platform, and has done so in a way that allows it to interoperate with millions of web sites that are designed for severely broken Microsoft and Netscape browsers from the previous decade. Let's look at what Apple has done with Safari. I think Safari is one of Apple's greatest software success stories. Yes, Apple's Safari web browser has been around for a while now, but I have not had an opportunity to write about it.
